ARC1116 ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 1

Project 1

Self Expression Through Portrait (Representing Me)

This was the first project of my time in semester 1 which was actually an ice-breaking project that enabled me to represent myself through an abstract piece of art. This project enabled me to translate initial ideas about myself into interpreting it to the art produced.
This abstract explains major qualities of me and that is being curious hence the reason of putting 2 heads and curiousness used to achieve knowledge therefore (hand reaching the brain). The other side elaborates on the support of friends and always working together.

Project 2

Self Expression Through Architectural Space (Me in Space)

Project 2 is an interactive group project with 3 members in each group. We were to design spaces on the basis of project 1 individually and then combine these 3 individual ideas to form a final design. A 1:1 installation of the final design is carried out using only cardboard.

Throughout the whole project I have grown and acquired knowledge of how to understand and distinguish scale and proportion relating to the human body with the space created. Therefore the design produced expresses the idea of a conceptual narrative.

Final Project

My City Dream Space

This project started, to my surprise with a movie. Groups of 5 were assigned to choose a movie from 4 given options.
Our group had chosen the movie Ghost In A Shell. The tricky part was after that, which was to choose a site in the movie and make a model of that site in 1:50 scale.

Individual group members were told to make a character to b added to the story of the movie and design a hideout space within the site chosen.

Here are few pictures of the mock up models created:

The individual part of the project enabled me to acquire knowledge of how to understand and distinguish scale and proportion relating to the human body with the space created. Therefore the design produced expresses the idea of a conceptual narrative and materials applied to embody and enhance the sensory experience of the space.
